A Garden of Sunflowers

A Garden of Sunflowers. I have made it to the fourth sunflower and have to think about stems and leaves next .I do have a beautiful blue sky to hook .I am happy so far .The rug is larger than I thought but the sunflower yellow wool is wonderful with hints of orange.....

A good day to stay in .I managed to do a few things and decided it was about time to get started on the sunflower rug for Libby. The kitchen is finished and I like the Mosaic green that I picked with a little help from a friend. The cupboards look good.I will be looking around for new handles  and maybe some new kitchen curtains. I hope Libby likes the design and I may get started with the hooking tonight.......Hopefully all the snow will be gone tomorrow and we will have a nice sunny day......I received flowers today.......Happy Anniversary Gervase........Thank you..!!!!!!A nice surprise on a snowy day..........Happy hooking to all you Rughookers    out there.........

Landscape workshop

Will soon start the sunflower rug. I am waiting for the yellow which is being dyed . I will start the second landscape piece soon . Haven't been hooking a lot but just finished a nice little scarf form the wool bought in Nova Scotia. Lovely wool........ I may add a button to it..A rainy Newfoundland day..........I guess I should get started with my painting in the kitchen..........or maybe hooking.......mmm.....

I was out cod jigging in Petty Harbour. What fun!!!!!!!!

 

                                         Fisherman's Fresh Fish Stew                                                                                                             4 slices fat back (pork)                                                                                                                        5 lbs fresh codfish                                                                                                                              1 medium onion or chives                                                                                                                   Potatoes                                                                                                                                               Pepper                                                                                                                                                 Water                                                                                                                        Place fat pork in a pot;let fry out well. Clean fish thoroughly,wash and remove skin;cut in squares about 2-inches.Add fish to fat and then add sliced onion or chives.Slice potatoes 1/4 thick and cover fish with the potato slices;season.Add 3/4 cup boiling water ( more if needed).Cook slowly until potatoes and fish are tender(about1/2 hour). SERVES 6..........Fish in summer and fun in winter-everything in its place.                                                                                                                                            This is from an old Newfoundland cookbook.........
